This October we are excited to introduce four new copper base certified reference materials covering the copper alloy grades Hiduron 130, Hiduron 191, CDA 486 and CDA 954.

IARM-CuH130-18 is Hiduron 130 cupronickel alloy. It is characterized by its high strength wear and corrosion resistance. Commonly used in marine applications,  including marine pump shafts and submarine components it contains 13-16% Ni, 0.1 – 1.0% Mn, 0.10% Si, 0.6 – 1.5% Fe and 2.0 – 3.0% Al and Cu as the balance.

IARM-CuH191-18 is a Hiduron 191 medium strength cupronickel alloy. It was designed for marine applications and is commonly used by the oil and gas industry and the Navy.  This alloy contains 0.5% Cr, 13.5 – 16.5% Ni, 0.05% C, 3.5 – 5.5% Mn, 0.15% Si, 0.01%P, 0.70 – 1.2% Fe and 1.0 – 2.0% Al and Cu as the balance.

IARM-Cu486-18 is a CDA 486 Naval Brass.  This alloy contain approximately 59 – 60% Cu, 1.0 – 2.5% Pb, 0.3 – 1.5% Sn and Zn as the balance. This alloy is has a high corrosion resistance to seawater and resistance to wear and fatigue.

IARM-Cu954-18 is a CDA 954 Aluminum Bronze alloy.  This allow is used in a number of fastener applications including nuts, clamps and screws.  This allow has a composition of 3.0 – 5.0% Fe, 1.5% Ni, 10.0 – 11.5% Al, 0.5% Mn and Cu as the balance.
